Wimbledon has some exciting plans on the horizon for its legendary ‘Henman Hill’, aiming to both renovate and expand its capacity in time for the tournament’s grand 150th anniversary celebration.
This grassy slope has long been a favorite gathering spot where countless fans, even those without show-court tickets, immerse themselves in the action, watching on a massive screen. With the proposed makeover—which is still awaiting approval—the goal is to boost the hill’s capacity by 20%. This upgrade is perfectly timed for the 2027 event and seeks to improve accessibility for all eager tennis enthusiasts.
These efforts are part of a broader wave of developments at the All England Club, following the thumbs-up for a 39-court expansion last year. Former tennis star Tim Henman, from whom the hill takes its name, shared his enthusiasm for the project. “This area has become iconic and extremely popular, but it needs to be more accessible to everyone,” Henman explained. “We’re always looking for ways to improve the experience across the estate. This is going to be an exciting project,” he added.
As Wimbledon continues to evolve, these upgrades promise to enhance the fan experience while honoring the tradition and charm that’s been synonymous with the tournament for years.
