This June, the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe gears up to host one of the most anticipated motorsport events—the 24 Hours of Le Mans. A full grid of 62 cars will roar into action for the race’s 93rd edition. Among those competing are all 36 full-season FIA World Endurance Championship entrants, alongside 26 more contenders ready to challenge for glory.
The lineup boasts an impressive array of vehicles: 21 Hypercars, 17 LMP2s, and 24 LMGT3s are set to vie for distinction. Waiting in the wings, six teams sit on the reserve list, hoping for their chance to join the fray. The provisional roster includes a host of seasoned talents—16 previous winners return for more (15 in Hypercar, one in LMGT3), and the race celebrates diversity with five female drivers ready to take the wheel.
In the Hypercar field, eight well-established manufacturers come together: Alpine, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Peugeot, Porsche, Toyota, and Aston Martin, the latter making a much-anticipated return to top-tier competition this year. Current titleholders Ferrari, aiming for their third straight win, will have their hands full with intense competition. Toyota is itching for a comeback at the top, while Cadillac, Alpine, BMW, and Peugeot look to leverage their growing experience. Meanwhile, Porsche, with the most wins in Le Mans history, seeks to further cement its legendary status. Welcoming a challenger, Aston Martin brings innovation to the table with its Valkyrie’s V12 engine, aiming to make a significant impact.
In the LMP2 category, 17 entries, including nine pro-am teams, promise heated competition. These racers, although no longer part of the World Endurance Championship, bring valuable experience from both the European and Asian Le Mans Series, poised to make a splash.
Meanwhile, the LMGT3 class is packed with 24 GT cars from an impressive nine manufacturers—Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, McLaren, Porsche, and Mercedes-AMG each take their place on the grid. One team to watch is the all-female Iron Dames, capturing attention as they gear up for a high-stakes showdown. Additionally, motorsport fans will see Valentino Rossi, the motorcycle legend, debut at Le Mans, piloting a Team WRT BMW M4 LMGT3.
Offering his perspective, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem remarked, “The 24 Hours of Le Mans stands tall as one of motorsport’s iconic events and a highlight of the FIA World Endurance Championship calendar. Having witnessed this thrilling race last year, I’m eagerly anticipating what this year will bring. Seeing such a strong and competitive field, filled with automotive heavyweights, only heightens the excitement for June.”
Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “The 24 Hours of Le Mans once again showcases a phenomenal lineup. As the fourth round of this season’s FIA WEC, this edition promises intense battles with major carmakers vying for the LMGT3 crown and the ultimate trophy for overall victory. What makes this race truly special is the diversity, with LMP2 prototypes adding another layer of excitement. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all participants for their unwavering commitment to endurance racing. The stage is set for a memorable race where strategic prowess, team coordination, and pure driving skill will decide the ultimate winner. Le Mans has always been a demanding contest, one of the most coveted titles in the motorsport world.”
Richard Mille, the FIA Endurance Commission President, echoed these sentiments, saying, “Revealing the Le Mans entry list ignites the anticipation for this extraordinary race. Reflecting on the competitors and potential storylines fills me with excitement. The field’s caliber, especially in Hypercar and LMGT3, is astounding, complemented by the presence of LMP2 cars that enrich the endurance racing landscape. I am thrilled at what this year’s competition in June might bring—certainly an epic confrontation.”
Frédéric Lequien, CEO of the WEC, concluded, “Unveiling the 24 Hours of Le Mans entry list is always a significant occasion, as it kicks off the countdown to the FIA WEC season’s crown jewel. The event has drawn another spectacular grid across all categories, a testament to its timeless allure. The memories of last year’s spectacular race are still vivid, and after witnessing the captivating action in our Qatar season opener, I’m confident we are in for another thrilling edition in just a few months.”
