In what promises to be a thrilling blend of tennis skill and chemistry, Stefanos Tsitsipas has announced that he will once again pair up with his long-time girlfriend, Paula Badosa, for the mixed doubles event at the 2025 US Open. The duo, playfully dubbed “Tsitsidosa” by fans, is ready to bring their unique dynamic back to the court.
Looking back, last August was a memorable time for Tsitsipas and Badosa. They turned the inaugural US Open Mixed Madness exhibition into a stunning display of teamwork, with Tsitsipas describing it as “one of the coolest date nights I could have asked for.” Their victory was not just about the win but also the $250,000 prize money and the thrill of outplaying pairs like Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios, Amanda Anisimova and Taylor Fritz, and Coco Gauff and Ben Shelton.
Meanwhile, the 2024 US Open Mixed Doubles crown went to Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori, who took down Taylor Townsend and Donald Young in an intense final.
Recently, the USTA unveiled some significant changes for the upcoming 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles competition, moving all matches to the qualifying week prior to the main draw. This shift is likely to spice up the tournament’s atmosphere and add a fresh twist to the proceedings.
Confirming their participation in the revamped mixed doubles format, Tsitsipas openly expressed his eagerness in Dubai: “Paula is the only mixed doubles partner I ever consider. There’s no other player I’d rather share the court with in this capacity.” He continued, emphasizing the special connection they bring to the court, both as partners in life and in tennis.
Expect sparks to fly at this year’s US Open, as Tsitsidosa once again aims for mixed doubles magic.
