Lucknow Super Giants’ main guy, Sanjiv Goenka, really seems to have a soft spot for this kid, Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The other day, I was watching this game—LSG against Rajasthan Royals—and after it ended, I swear I saw Goenka go up to Vaibhav and sort of give him this gentle cheek pat. Kinda sweet if you ask me. No clue why that stuck, but it did.
Anyway, Vaibhav in his debut? Totally nailed it. I mean, 34 runs, just like that. Fast forward, Goenka’s out there on the internet singing praises once more. This time it’s because Vaibhav smashed a century like it was no big deal against Gujarat Titans. Shocked? Yeah, me too.
Here’s a thing: Suryavanshi’s old pic just went all over the place online. Seriously, everyone’s talking about it. He’s merely 14 and already breaking records left and right—like that 35-ball century. Youngest ever to do this in T20s. Mind-blowing stuff, really.
And Goenka’s on X (which used to be Twitter, by the way, but let’s not get sidetracked) just gushing over this chap. He’s posting pics and messages, all that jazz. Called him talented, had words like “wow!” and praises flowing like water.
But hold on—there’s more. Goenka stumbles upon a photo of little Vaibhav from back when he was just six. Funny thing, he’s wearing a jersey of Goenka’s old team, Rising Pune Supergiant. Talk about a full-circle moment, right?
What does Goenka do? Hits X again to express his almost father-like, maybe a tad cheesy admiration for this kid. I caught myself smiling at that, won’t lie.
