Bruce Seldon Jr., stepping into his father’s heavyweight legacy, took to the ring on Saturday night in Atlantic City. His opponent was Gabriel Costa, who came into the match with a 4-7-1 record. The fight, part of a Boxing Insider Promotion event, saw a swift and decisive finish. Almost immediately, Seldon Jr. launched a flawless straight left hand that floored Costa. Although Costa managed to get back up, he was soon put down for the count by a powerful body shot from Seldon. From start to finish, the entire bout lasted less than a minute. “I feel good,” Seldon exclaimed after his victory. “We did exactly what we set out to do: secure the knockout.”
Moving on to the next fight on the card, we saw 21-1 Vlad Panin go head-to-head with 10-5-1 Brian Arregui in a junior middleweight contest scheduled for ten rounds. The opening round was cautious, with both fighters tentatively testing the waters, trying to gauge the distance and timing. As the second round began, Panin started to find his rhythm, using his jab effectively to string together a series of punches. He maintained this momentum into the third, whereas Arregui struggled to turn the tide in his favor. The fight paused briefly in the fourth when Arregui’s cup came loose and needed adjusting—a problem that recurred in the fifth. This round was a bit closer, but Panin’s jab seemed to make the difference, despite Arregui landing a solid combination just before the bell.
Arregui came out strong in the sixth, landing some impressive shots and pushing the offensive. While Panin had his moments, the round seemed to lean in Arregui’s favor. In the following round, Panin connected with some good punches, but it was Arregui’s aggressive strategy that stood out. Panin shifted tactics in the eighth, using his speed and mobility to control the round. The ninth was a nail-biter, with both fighters having strong moments, making it challenging to predict who was ahead. The final round mirrored this close competition, leaving the fight’s outcome somewhat uncertain for the judges.
In the end, the judges handed the victory to Arregui.
