So, college football becoming kinda… NFL-ish, right? It’s been like watching one of those nature documentaries where over time, all the animals start looking like each other. Tennessee’s got this guy, Nico Iamaleava — their QB. And, I think his situation is throwing some spotlight on this whole NFL-college football blur. Or maybe it’s just me being overly dramatic. Anyway.
Nico and Tennessee are apparently talking (or maybe arguing?) about this new NIL deal. You know, where college players get paid now. Wild, I know. So, Nico, he wants to stick around with the Volunteers — which honestly sounds like a superhero team. But he’s not thrilled with what he’s getting paid. Who would be, right? But they’re not really close to shaking hands on this one, from what I’m hearing.
And then there’s spring practice. Ah, spring. A time for flowers to bloom, and apparently for quarterbacks to, uh, make appearances. Except Nico didn’t. At least, that’s what ESPN’s Pete Thamel said. Like, wasn’t he supposed to be there? I mean, it’s not like you can just ghost on practice. Or can you? The whole thing’s a bit murky.
You ever smell wet cardboard on a rainy day? That kinda soggy, peeling texture? Yeah, that’s kinda how all these college-athlete-turned-pro negotiations feel. Maybe it’s intentional. Or maybe it’s just the way the wind blows these days. Who knows. Anyway, the whole deal feels like we’re on this fast-forward ride to NFL Town. And yeah, I’m here for the chaos.
