Several teams are expected to show interest in trading for Kevin Durant this offseason, especially as the Phoenix Suns seem poised to facilitate his departure. The Suns haven’t quite lived up to expectations in the past couple of seasons after they bolstered their roster with Bradley Beal, alongside their star players Durant and Devin Booker.
At the trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors were one of the key players eyeing a deal for Durant. However, Shams Charania reports that other teams, such as the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets, might be more suited for a mutual interest scenario.
“In February, around the NBA trade deadline, there was mutual interest between Durant and several teams including Minnesota, Miami, New York, San Antonio, and Houston,” Charania mentioned. “I expect these teams, and possibly others, to enter the mix again this summer.”
Durant is set to be eligible for a two-year, $120 million contract extension in the coming offseason. Given that his current contract is nearing expiration, he will likely have a significant say in where he ends up.
