When Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey took over, they wasted no time securing their choice of quarterback through free agency. This past month, they brought Justin Fields on board with a two-year contract worth $40 million, securing $30 million of that as guaranteed money. Their move clearly signals that they plan on having Fields lead the team come 2025.

Given this new development, it wouldn’t make much sense for the Jets to draft a quarterback with their first-round pick. However, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of them eyeing a prospect on Day 2 of the draft. Such a player could spend the year learning the ropes and then possibly be ready to step up in 2026 if the Fields plan doesn’t pan out as expected.
Names like Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Louisville’s Tyler Shough are already being tossed around as potential Day 2 contenders the Jets might consider.
