Bryce Mitchell is gearing up for his match against Jean Silva at UFC 314 this Saturday, April 12, 2025. For Mitchell, this fight feels like an epic clash between “Good vs. Evil.” While he doesn’t position himself as the embodiment of “good,” he insists that he battles for noble causes—and for Jesus Christ.
Despite his intense devotion, Mitchell’s journey to Christianity is relatively new. On a recent episode of Anthony Smith’s podcast, “Thug Nasty” shared the transformative experience that brought him closer to his faith.
Interestingly enough, his story begins with a relationship that might seem straight out of a movie.
In a snippet that’s been making the rounds on social media, Mitchell disclosed that he was once involved with someone who practiced witchcraft, a relationship that nearly tore his life apart, catalyzing his spiritual awakening.
Reflecting on the experience, he recalls, “I was dating a witch. She got completely possessed and was causing chaos in my life. It was then that I turned to the power of Jesus, and everything changed. Suddenly, I could see the world for what it is—a spiritual battlefield.”
The fighter delved deeper into this eye-opening chapter of his life during a conversation with MMA Guru.
“I was caught up in a lifestyle of debauchery and found myself with a woman who claimed to be a witch, dabbling in spells,” he admitted (as reported by MMA Weekly). “She reassured me it was all ‘good magic.’ She called it ‘white magic’ and distinguished it from ‘black magic.’ I thought she might be a bit loony, but I figured we could still make it work. That was until the day she became possessed by demons and started wreaking havoc in my home.”
He continued, “She was smashing windows, blood was pouring down her arm, and she even attacked my tomato plants. That’s when I lost it. I literally picked her up and told her to stay away from my garden!”
Things escalated further when this enigmatic woman reportedly threatened to harm herself and blame it on Mitchell to the authorities. Feeling entirely out of options, Mitchell—who up until then had been an atheist—turned to Jesus for help to rid his life of this dark presence.
“I was staring at a demon, no doubt,” he recalled. “In a moment of desperation, I proclaimed, ‘In the name of Jesus Christ, I command all evil to leave this household.’ And, just like that, she stopped speaking. She walked over, did an upside-down cross gesture, and ominously told me, ‘You’ll lose every fight for the rest of your life, and all your children will die.’ Then she left.”
That encounter was their last, as Mitchell recounted with finality, “I never saw or spoke to her again, but I cast her out in Jesus’ name.”
Now, with his faith as his shield, Mitchell is set to confront Silva at UFC 314, hoping to expel any metaphorical demons in the octagon at Miami’s Kaseya Center.
