In a remarkable ascent in the world of tennis, Mirra Andreeva has climbed to a career-high No. 9 in the WTA rankings as of Monday. This achievement makes her the first 17-year-old to penetrate the Top 10 since Nicole Vaidisova did so back in 2007.
Andreeva’s rise can be attributed to her stunning victory in Dubai on Saturday, where she triumphed over previous Grand Slam winners like Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Marketa Vondrousova. Her win at the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai also earned her the distinction of being the youngest champion in its history.
Last year, Andreeva made waves by reaching the semifinals at the French Open, marking her best performance in a major event to date.
In the latest ranking updates, Madison Keys has also climbed to a career-best position at No. 5, despite taking a break from competing since claiming victory at the Australian Open in Melbourne last month. Alongside Coco Gauff at No. 3 and Jessica Pegula at No. 4, she helps form a formidable U.S. trio not seen since 2003. Meanwhile, Emma Navarro has joined the Top 10 as well, sitting at No. 10.
Aryna Sabalenka continues to hold the No. 1 spot, with Swiatek right behind her at No. 2.
On the ATP side, the rankings saw only a minor shuffle. Andrey Rublev has moved up to No. 9 after securing the title at the Qatar Open, pushing Tommy Paul down to No. 10.
Jannik Sinner, despite serving a three-month suspension due to a doping violation, retains his lead at No. 1, followed by Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz, and Casper Ruud.
