Luka Doncic was on fire, netting 32 points as the Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 123-100 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. This win was significant as it marked the Lakers’ first triumph in Denver in nearly three years.
Reflecting on Doncic’s outstanding performance, LeBron James described him as intensely focused. “He was dialed in on his mission tonight. Once he started sinking those step-back threes and getting vocal — whether it was at the crowd, us, or even at himself — you could feel his intensity,” James commented.
Before this game, Doncic averaged 14.7 points in his first three matchups since joining the Lakers. JJ Redick talked about his strategy for integrating Doncic with James and Austin Reaves in terms of ball control. “Luka should be the orchestrator of the offense. Both Bron and AR will have their moments, with planned rotations ensuring everyone gets their time to shine,” explained Redick. “All three are sharp basketball minds, and they have a knack for creating advantageous situations. We’re looking to put defenses in tricky spots.”
James expressed no concerns about Doncic taking charge of the offense. “Naturally, I’m more like a wide receiver, whereas he’s the quarterback. It’s a perfect synergy,” said James.
In addition to his scoring, Doncic contributed ten rebounds and seven assists, showcasing the breadth of his skills. Up next, the Lakers are set to face off against the Mavericks on Tuesday, with expectations running high for another stellar performance.
