As the racing season heats up, there’s been a shift in the line-up at Red Bull Racing. After a challenging start, Liam Lawson is set to join Racing Bulls, while Yuki Tsunoda takes the wheel at Red Bull Racing, beginning at the 2025 Japan Grand Prix.
Red Bull finds itself in a rather uncommon position with access to four spots on the Formula One grid through their teams, Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls. This flexibility allows them to shuffle drivers, leading to the Japanese sensation teaming up with the reigning four-time World Champion, Max Verstappen.
For Lawson, this move means returning to the Racing Bulls team, headquartered in Faenza, after just two races with the primary Red Bull outfit.
Laurent Mekies, the Racing Bulls team principal, expressed his excitement over the change: “We’re thrilled to see Yuki making a well-earned transition to Oracle Red Bull Racing! His stellar improvement last year, especially at the start of 2025, has been truly impressive.
“Personally and as a team, watching Yuki’s growth has been a rewarding experience for all of us both here in Faenza and at the Milton Keynes facility. His vibrant spirit has positively energized our crews and garages, and he’ll always be part of the Racing Bulls family. We’re rooting for his continued success with ORBR.”
Mekies continued, “We’re also eager to create a supportive environment for Liam, allowing him to showcase his talent, which we have no doubt about. He gelled well with us last year, and we’re excited about the challenges ahead and to evolve together as a team. With Isack’s strong start, we’re confident in our youthful and robust lineup,” Mekies concluded.
