COMBATE GLOBAL has just announced a thrilling new addition to the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA): the highly-anticipated debut of Kenia Enriquez. The World Boxing Council (WBC) interim world flyweight champion, hailing from Tijuana, Mexico, is set to step into the MMA ring for the first time.
This exciting debut will take place inside La Jaula, COMBATE GLOBAL’s famed competition cage, during the all-female event aptly named ‘Combate Female’. Scheduled for Thursday, March 13 in Miami, Enriquez will face off against the undefeated Hayley “Bloody” Valentine from London, England. The two will compete in a strawweight division showdown.
Fans won’t need to miss a single moment of the action. The bout between Enriquez and Valentine, along with the entire ‘Combate Female’ card, will be streamed live on Combate Global’s YouTube channels in both Spanish and English, starting at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Enriquez has been putting in serious work to prepare for her debut at Lobo Gym MMA in Guadalajara. This renowned training camp is owned by the family of another notable name in women’s MMA, former world champion Alexa Grasso. Enriquez carries with her an impressive resume as a boxing pro, having carved out a 12-year career that led her to claim the WBC interim flyweight title in September 2023, by outpointing Ibeth Zamora Silva.
Her preparation is burning bright as she heads into this new arena, coming off a successful defense of her title against Maria Salinas in February of this year. Enriquez’s boxing journey has seen her collect distinguished titles, such as the World Boxing Organization world flyweight crown in 2014 and later, the interim light flyweight title in 2017.
COMBATE GLOBAL isn’t a novice when it comes to transitioning boxing talent to the MMA scene. This history of innovation includes the introduction of boxing champion Amanda Serrano to MMA, where she made her mark by achieving a stunning submission victory. Similarly, Dulce “Sexy Star” Garcia, another boxing figure, made waves with two wins in 2019 under the COMBATE GLOBAL banner.
Awaiting Enriquez is England’s own Hayley Valentine. The 28-year-old will be debuting in the strawweight division, stepping up from her previous success in the atomweight class. Valentine is known for her prowess in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, holding a brown belt, which makes this bout particularly intriguing.
In an exciting development, COMBATE GLOBAL recently announced a new partnership with YouTube for streaming their live events, furthering their global reach. The organization’s content will continue to appear on Univision, expanding their Spanish-language offerings to MMA fans across the U.S.
Fans should stay tuned for further announcements about the rest of the ‘Combate Female’ cards, set to drop next week. It’s shaping up to be an event that MMA enthusiasts won’t want to miss!
