The Memphis Grizzlies have decided to extend Lamar Stevens’ stay with the team through the rest of the 2024-25 basketball season.
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 230 pounds, Stevens has been a key player off the bench for the Grizzlies in six games so far this season. In those appearances, he’s contributed an average of 4.0 points and 3.0 rebounds over nearly 10 minutes per game. After initially joining the Grizzlies on back-to-back 10-day contracts starting February 21, he made an impressive impact on March 10, scoring a season-high 13 points and sinking a career-best four 3-pointers during an exciting victory against the Phoenix Suns.
Before his call-up to the Grizzlies, Stevens made a notable impression in the NBA G League with the Motor City Cruise. Over 29 games, he racked up averages of 17.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.4 blocks in a solid 34.1 minutes per game.
After going undrafted in 2020 following his college stint at Penn State, Stevens has shown resilience and skill in his professional career. He has participated in 209 NBA games, including 41 starts, delivering averages of 5.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in just over 15 minutes of play across five seasons. His journey has included stops with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics before making his mark with the Grizzlies. Last season, after being traded from Boston, Stevens played in 19 games for Memphis and proved his worth, averaging 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 23 minutes on the court.
With this new contract, the Grizzlies are undoubtedly looking forward to seeing what more Stevens can bring to the table as the season progresses.
