Jonah Winston finds himself with big expectations to meet as he steps into the spotlight as a college recruit. His older brother, Jameis Winston, made waves by clinching the Heisman Trophy and leading Florida State to a National Championship before being picked first in the 2015 NFL Draft. Although Jameis didn’t quite reach superstar status, he carved out a respectable decade-long career in the NFL.
While Jameis entered college as a 5-star recruit, Jonah comes with a 3-star rating as a wide receiver. Still, that hasn’t stopped several schools from vying for his commitment. Among the interested are Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M.
Given his family’s history, one might assume Florida State has an edge with Jonah, who hails from Hoover, Alabama. As he shared with On3 in early January, Florida State, UCF, Auburn, and Ole Miss have emerged as his favorites. Now, it seems Jonah is gearing up for official visits to both Florida State and Auburn in the months ahead, as reported by On3. It looks like this decision is heating up.
Despite all prospects, the bond with Florida State could make it challenging for Auburn to sway him away. Jonah mentioned in early February to Warchant of On3, “The uniqueness about FSU is that it’s where I essentially grew up. That’s where my journey in football truly began.”
Ranked by 247Sports as the No. 43 wide receiver in the class of 2026, Jonah Winston is definitely a name that will attract attention during the upcoming summer.
