During a recent chat with Michael Scotto from HoopsHype, D’Angelo Russell expressed his desire to return to the Brooklyn Nets for the next season.
“Why wouldn’t I want to stay? Definitely, I’m all in. I really enjoy being here, I have a great rapport with everyone, and there’s a lot to appreciate. I’m all for coming back,” Russell shared when asked about renewing his contract with the Nets during the offseason.
Currently, Russell is in the last stretch of his two-year, $36 million contract, and he will soon be an unrestricted free agent.
Russell also opened up about the level of trust he shares with Jordi Fernandez, saying, “Even when my shots aren’t landing, he still believes in my ability to contribute and make plays. That trust means the world to me. People often label me as someone who’s just a shooter, but my real strength is being an all-around basketball player. I’m truly grateful for the confidence he’s shown in me ever since I joined the team.”
As it stands, Russell is posting an average of 13.8 points and 5.7 assists per game for the Nets.
