Okay, so Dak Prescott’s been dealing with this whole hamstring issue, right? And he’s obviously been making some progress. Like, here’s this guy standing up at the Children’s Cancer Fund gala, looking all confident and saying he could actually play a game today if needed. Not sure about you, but I was surprised. Is this just him being optimistic, or is he trying to send a message? Hard to tell.
He’s talking about not just making a quick comeback but being fit enough to handle the grind of 17, maybe 20 games? That’s some serious determination right there. But, let’s face it, if you’re paying someone that much—$240 million for four years, can you believe it?—expectations are sky-high. And Prescott did start the season, only to be benched with an injury after eight games. Not the best season statistically—11 touchdowns and 8 interceptions aren’t exactly career highlights. But hey, that’s football for you.
Anyway, he’s 31 now, and while some might consider this “aging” for an athlete, he’s planning to jump back into some team activities when they kick off next month. Not putting a percentage on his recovery, though. Really, it’s more about being ready when it counts in the fall, so he’s not rushing. I mean, he gets it—age catches up, and those past injuries linger longer than we’d like.
And just to run down his career stuff for a sec—since 2016 with the Cowboys, Prescott’s been pretty solid. Three-time Pro Bowler, over 31,000 passing yards, 213 touchdowns… you get the idea. You can’t blame the guy for wanting to get back out there and add more to that legacy. But whether or not all this talk turns into action? Guess we’ll see as things move along.
