As reported in the Boston Herald, the Celtics showcased their roster’s impressive depth on Sunday in Portland. Even without the services of Jaylen Brown, who was resting a knee bone bruise, and key starters Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, who were taking a breather for the series of back-to-back games, Boston still managed to dominate the Portland Trail Blazers. They cruised to a 129-116 victory at the Moda Center, leaving no room for doubt about their strength.
In an extraordinary team effort, all nine Celtics players who hit the court contributed at least four points each. Six players scored in double digits, with Jayson Tatum leading the charge. Tatum put up an impressive stat line, finishing with 30 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, a steal, and a block, underscoring his role as a team leader.
Sam Hauser also made his presence felt, adding 24 points to the team’s tally and hitting an incredible 8-of-10 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Derrick White didn’t hold back either, scoring 17 points while shooting 4-for-10 from three-point land. He also contributed eight assists, three rebounds, two steals, and a block to round off his performance.
