The UFC’s upcoming pay-per-view event hit a snag on Saturday night. During the UFC Mexico broadcast, commentator Jon Anik delivered the disappointing news that the showdown between Carlos Prates and Geoff Neal, initially slated for April 12 at UFC 314, has been scrapped. Unfortunately, ‘Handz of Steel’ Geoff Neal had to pull out because of an injury.
This change is quite a setback for the event, especially for Prates. He was gearing up for his fifth Octagon appearance after delivering four highlight-reel knockouts previously. According to Anik, Prates won’t be getting another opponent in Miami this time. However, the UFC seems to be planning something exciting for the talented fighter from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Due to this development, UFC 314’s main card is down to four fights. However, it’s likely that there might be changes soon, either with another fight being added or a preliminary match getting bumped to the main card.
Despite Carlos Prates not being part of the action, UFC 314 still promises to be thrilling. The card features an epic featherweight championship clash between former champ Alexander Volkanovski and the number three contender, Diego Lopes.
On top of that, fans are in for a treat with the co-main event where Paddy Pimblett goes head-to-head with former Bellator MMA champion ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler. This fight could propel ‘The Baddy’ into the lightweight top ten, making it all the more interesting.
And let’s not forget Jean Silva, who’s eager to take on the possibly unhinged Bryce Mitchell. All in all, even with the shuffle, UFC 314 is all set to deliver a fantastic night of fights!
