In an exhilarating night at UFC Seattle, it was the Brazilian dynamo Jean Silva who truly captured the spotlight. Last night’s showdown (Feb. 22, 2025) saw Silva unleash a fierce combination of a knockout punch and sharp elbows to finish Melsik Baghdasaryan early in the first round at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. The highlights are worth a watch for any UFC enthusiast.
Following his triumph, Silva didn’t waste any time in naming his desired next opponent during a post-fight chat with Michael Bisping. Who’s on Silva’s radar? None other than Bryce Mitchell.
Mitchell has made headlines before for his controversial comments, once referring to Adolf Hitler as a “good guy” and expressing a bizarre wish to go fishing with him. Silva, known as “Lord,” clearly took issue with Mitchell’s remarks.
“I’m eyeing Bryce Mitchell because he’s exactly the kind of opponent who could help me seal a really promising contract if I take him down. Plus, he’s someone who really challenged Ilia [Topuria],” Silva explained. “As a public figure, it’s important to know there are lines you just can’t cross.”
Mitchell didn’t let too much time pass before firing back at Silva’s challenge. His response was characteristically blunt and to the point.
“There’s only one LORD and it ain’t you, fool,” Mitchell shot back on social media. “You need a country ass whoopin’. It’ll humble you just right.”
Bryce’s colorful retort has stirred the pot, and when asked about the possibility of this matchup, UFC CEO Dana White seemed to recognize the potential draw of such a bout.
“There are definitely tons of fans who’d love to see that fight,” White chuckled when MMAMania.com caught up with him. “Let’s see what happens.”
Silva, currently boasting a 15-2 record, has been on a knockout streak, winning all four of his UFC bouts decisively—a feat he modestly credits to the support of his wife.
