Tyson Fury has teased retirement before, only to make a return to the ring, but it seems this time might be different. Bob Arum, a prominent promoter from Top Rank, shared with Sky Sports that he believes Fury should hang up his gloves for good this time.
“I truly believe Tyson Fury owes it to himself and his family to stay happily retired,” Arum expresses. “Not retiring from life, though—he’s got plenty ahead of him. He’s a natural communicator and entertainer. But, in terms of boxing, I think he’s had his fill.”
Arum points out that Fury’s last few bouts have set him up financially for life, suggesting he should consider pursuing ventures that don’t involve physical risks.
Sticking to retirement, however, would mean British boxing enthusiasts miss out on a much-anticipated clash between Fury and fellow Brit Anthony Joshua. Arum, though, doesn’t see this fight as a big lure.
“As an American, I’m not as captivated by the prospect of a Fury vs. Joshua fight as British fans might be,” he noted. “So, Fury stepping away from boxing and that particular matchup doesn’t really affect me.”
Still, if Fury ever feels the itch to return, Arum admits he’d be open to organizing the fight, leaving the ball squarely in Fury’s court. Arum isn’t proactively promoting a comeback; it’s entirely up to Fury to make that decision.
