So, here’s the thing. Sunday night hit hard for some folks in Michigan, especially for this golf team from Charlevoix High. Just minding their own business, probably chatting about the latest tournament or whatever, when bam — they get slammed by an SUV. And not just any SUV, mind you, but one driven by some guy on the run from the cops. I know, right? Feels like something out of a TV show.
Okay, so this dude in the SUV, he didn’t make it. I guess he had a list of not-so-great things going on with the law in Antrim County. Assault, stolen car — not winning any awards for model citizen here. Anyway, he went barreling down M-115, probably thinking he was invincible or something, and crossed into the opposite lane. You can probably guess what happened next.
Now the whole varsity golf team — six students and their coach — ends up in the hospital. And not just any hospital, they were rushed to Munson Medical Center over in Traverse City. Can you imagine the chaos? Oh, and the driver of the van? They had to fly him out with this aero-medical helicopter. Like, it’s that serious.
In this little twist of irony, springtime in Michigan is when the boys are all about golf. But right now, golf’s taking a backseat while everyone hopes these kids pull through alright. You never expect stuff like this, you know?
Anyway, send a thought or two their way, if you can. Life’s unpredictable — one moment you’re just doing your thing, and the next, well, you get swept up in someone else’s chaos.
