It’s always refreshing when a company takes product testing to the next level, and that’s exactly what the folks at Big Max did with their waterproof Aqua bags—they decided a good old waterfall and rapids adventure would do the trick. You can skip straight to the video here, but let me give you a quick overview.
About eight years ago, Big Max kindly sent over an Aqua Sport 2 for review, and it’s been a trusty companion ever since. Sure, years of frequent use have left their mark, particularly on the padding where the clubs slide in, but considering the mileage, it’s still in great shape. Through countless rounds from spring through fall, this bag’s waterproof capability has not faltered one bit. Zippers are intact, even after my persistent attempts to jam-pack the side pockets.
Not to mention, I’ve also had their Blade IP Trolley for the same amount of time. While it used to be my go-to, I’ve since upgraded to an electric trolley, but it’s nice having the Blade as a backup. It folds so neatly that it lives in my car for those moments when I realize I didn’t charge the battery or forgot the remote—which, yes, happens more than I’d like to admit.
And here’s a fun snap of me with my AQUA and Blade IP braving the elements back in the day, proving they’re more than up for a rainy challenge.
Now, coming back to this intriguing Aqua Falls test scenario—Big Max’s video from the Valley of Falling Waters in Maltatal, Austria, in 2024 really ups the ante.
Big Max isn’t about half-measures. Their philosophy is that real-world performance matters most, so they took those Aqua bags beyond simple rain tests. For six hours, these bags were dragged through cascading waters to push their limits. The idea was to see if they’d truly withstand extreme conditions, beyond what most of us would ever encounter on the golf course.
And the results are impressive. Despite the relentless pressure of cold waterfalls, both the AQUA IPX Tour and AQUA Dry Bag emerged without a drop of water damage. Internally, everything remained dry as intended, thanks to their advanced waterproof materials.
It’s not just the water resistance that stood out—the bags faced rocks and intense environmental friction without any visible scars or wear. The new IPX material they used held strong, proving it can handle vigorous conditions. Moreover, all functional elements like zippers, straps, and pockets worked seamlessly even after the ordeal. So, after a full day of battle with the elements, these bags didn’t just survive; they thrived.
When Big Max promises that their Aqua bags can tackle the extremes, they aren’t joking. It’s a testament to durability and reliability when you #PLAYBEYONDLIMITS.
