Since Ruben Amorim took over Manchester United, he has grappled with finding the right fit for the wingback position. The team’s current lineup hasn’t been quite up to the mark for those roles.
Luke Shaw is still out with an injury, and after Tyrell Malacia left in January, Diogo Dalot has been filling in on the left wing. However, he’s had a tough time adapting there, with Amorim noting that Dalot performs much better on the right side of the field.
Even when Dalot plays on his preferred side, his performances haven’t been particularly outstanding, prompting Amorim to consider options like Geovany Quenda from Sporting and Roger from Braga.
Patrick Dorgu’s expected arrival on the left could push Dalot to a backup position, and INEOS might think about offloading him. Previously, The Peoples Person reported that Real Madrid has shown interest in the former Porto player.
Now, according to Teamtalk, Bayern Munich has also entered the competition for the 25-year-old. His ability to adapt and perform consistently has caught the eye of Bayern’s Vincent Kompany.
Dalot’s consistent fitness is notable; he hasn’t missed a game owing to injury since February 2023 and has only faced two suspensions since joining United. His commitment to fitness is reminiscent of fellow Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, as Dalot has revamped his recovery and fitness routines.
Teamtalk states, “Bayern Munich joins Real Madrid in considering a summer transfer for Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot. What really stands out to Bayern and Real is Dalot’s adaptability and consistent performances, making him a sought-after player in Europe.”
Inspired by Ronaldo, Dalot has enhanced his approach to recovery, diet, and preparation, which solidifies his reputation as one of United’s most dependable players. Despite his importance, selling Dalot could fetch United over €40 million, which is above his current market value.
With potential new signings, INEOS might be inclined to sell Dalot, who would likely not appreciate being demoted to a secondary role. From a financial standpoint, allowing him to leave could be beneficial.
