Abdul Carter, the standout pass rusher from Pennsylvania State University, is drawing a lot of attention in this year’s NFL draft as one of the top two or three prospects. Many believe he has the potential to shine at the next level.
On the flip side, Jalen Hurts is riding high, especially after leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl victory against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. This win has put him right at the summit of the NFL world.
Though not everyone—aside from perhaps a passionate group in the Delaware Valley—might peg Hurts as the absolute best quarterback, Carter is convinced. He sees Hurts as the top guy in the game, largely thanks to that Super Bowl LIX win.
In a recent tweet, Abdul Carter heaped praise on Hurts, calling him the NFL’s best quarterback. Carter believes that the champion should wear the crown, and Hurts earned his title by carving out an impressive victory.
Interestingly, Carter hails from Philadelphia himself, and it seems he’s got dreams that align with his hometown loyalties—joining the Eagles, as noted by Dov Kleiman.
While Hurts may not be considered among the elite quarterbacks, his stats are nothing to scoff at. During the 2024 regular season, he rushed for 630 yards and 14 touchdowns, while passing for 2,903 yards and 18 touchdowns. In Super Bowl LIX, he put on a show, completing 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns, and also racked up 72 rushing yards with another touchdown.
As the Eagles set their sights on back-to-back championship runs, bringing in a dynamic pass rusher like Carter would certainly boost their chances. Known for his explosive and aggressive style, Carter notched an impressive 12 sacks and led the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision with 24 tackles for loss in the 2024 season.
He played a crucial role in propelling the Nittany Lions to the Orange Bowl, although they eventually fell to the University of Notre Dame.
