PFL is bringing back its middleweight division, and it’s creating quite a buzz. The organization just revealed the eight fighters who will compete in their first 185-pound tournament since 2018. Notable fighters include Impa Kasanganay, who currently boasts an impressive record of 18 wins and 5 losses, and Sadibou Sy, with 17 wins, 8 losses, 2 draws, and 1 no-contest. Both have previously clutched the championship title, with Kasanganay winning in the light heavyweight division in 2023 and Sy triumphing in the welterweight category in 2022.
Kasanganay and Sy are eyeing another lucrative payday with the 2025 tournament, which offers a $500,000 cash prize to the victor. They’re not the only seasoned fighters in the lineup. The competition is further heated by the presence of Fabian Edwards, a two-time Bellator title challenger, and Josh Silveira, who made it to the 2023 PFL light heavyweight finals. Alongside them, we have Bellator veterans such as Aaron Jeffery, Dalton Rosta, and Mike Shipman. Rounding out this stellar cast is Murad Ramazanov, who has recently showcased his skills in the PFL.
Back in 2018, Louis Taylor took home the inaugural 185-pound championship belt. Since then, fans have been waiting for the division to make a return, and their wishes have been granted.
Mark your calendars for April 18 when the middleweight tournament kicks off. It promises to deliver high-octane action, especially since it will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN+.
