After the much-anticipated reveal of Aston Martin’s 2025 race car, the AMR25, drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll shared their insights and ambitions for the new season ahead.
Entering their third year together, Alonso and Stroll form the longest-running driver duo for the 2025 grid, providing the team with a valuable mix of consistency and skill. The previous season was a challenging one for both, as Team Silverstone’s 2024 car didn’t meet expectations.
Despite those struggles, Alonso managed to outperform his teammate Stroll by 46 points and ended the season ninth in the Drivers’ Championship, while Aston Martin finished fifth in the Constructors’ tally.
For Alonso, this year is a landmark—it’s his 22nd season in Formula 1, extending his reputation as one of the sport’s enduring stalwarts. Fresh off a complex 2024, the two-time World Champion is determined to drive Aston Martin forward.
“We took a lot from 2024, and the team has been channeling that knowledge into developing the AMR25,” Alonso remarked. As the team looks ahead to a fiercely competitive final year under the current regulations, he remains confident in Aston Martin’s efforts to stay competitive. “The competition will be closely contested, but I know our team’s been putting in the work at AMRTC to ensure we’re prepared.”
He’s excited to hit the ground running this season, saying, “I’m ready to help strengthen this team and continue my journey with Aston Martin Aramco.”
Meanwhile, the 2025 season will be Lance Stroll’s ninth in F1 and his seventh with his father’s team, setting him up as the most seasoned Canadian driver in the sport’s history. At 26, Stroll recognizes the importance of this year for advancing the team’s goals.
“Everyone has been hard at work over the winter, aiming to improve in 2025,” Stroll noted. “As a team, we want to achieve great things and will continue to grow throughout the year.”
Stroll also pointed to Aston Martin’s forward-looking ambitions, highlighting how the team’s resources and talent are paving the way for future success. “We’re building something exciting with the right tools and people, and 2025 is crucial for making headway,” he explained.
He’s looking forward to the season’s kickoff, adding, “I can’t wait to get back in the car, starting with pre-season testing in Bahrain.”
Both Alonso and Stroll are set to take their initial run in the AMR25 during a promotional event at the Bahrain International Circuit before the official pre-season tests start next Wednesday.
As Aston Martin gears up for what promises to be a highly competitive season, this dynamic duo is ready to propel the team forward in its evolutionary journey.
