So, here’s a weird story I stumbled upon. A Big Ten mascot got tangled up in a freak accident, and—get this—it’s an actual train! Purdue’s Boilermaker Special. Yeah, that thing zooms onto football fields and even hits highways at 75 miles-per-hour. Madness, right?
Anyway, last Thursday was not its lucky day. April 24, to be exact. The train had a tire go a bit rogue, or that’s what they say, and ended up smashing through the median. Just like that, it was in oncoming traffic, and boom, disaster struck.
Sadly, one life was taken, and others ended up in the hospital. Purdue’s official line sounded something like, “We’re pretty heartbroken. Our thoughts are with everyone.” They tossed in that the students on board got checked out at the hospital and were given the green light to leave. Small mercies in a sea of chaos.
WTHR threw their hat in the ring, saying something similar—the tire might’ve been acting up. Who’d have thought a train would have tire problems? Pictures of the scene—yikes. Not pretty. Really drives home how fragile life can be.
The friends and family of the lost one… can’t really imagine what they’re going through. Just hoping they find some peace in all this. It’s messy, life. Unexpectedly so.
Rest easy. May we all hug our loved ones a bit tighter.

There you go, a bit all over the place, just like life sometimes.
