So, the NBA playoffs are pretty much on the horizon, right? Folks are starting to get all pumped up about seeing some of the league’s big names make a splash. You know, like glitter and fireworks but with more squeaky sneakers and slam dunks. Anyway, Patrick Beverley dives into this in his podcast. And get this, he’s got a list, like Santa, but for basketball stars he thinks will, I dunno, really bring the heat this postseason. Or something like that.
So, who’s on Beverley’s list of potentially awesome show-offs? Ja Morant, first up, he reckons. Then Jimmy Butler. Oh, and a little bit of intrigue added with Kawhi Leonard and James Harden in the mix. Here comes the twist though, he throws Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers into the mix. Like, surprise! Not a player, but hey, someone’s gotta steer the ship, right? And Beverley figures Rivers might just lift this team up a notch—or ten.
This whole thing was sprinkled through his podcast like confetti, with him going on about how Morant is numero uno. Follow up was Butler—he’s like, imagine if Stone Cold Steve Austin was a basketball player and had that “flipping the bird off” vibe. Total rebel. Then Leonard, who’s like answering his critics with a vengeance. Harden’s next, who’s still ring-less, poor dude. And then Rivers, playing the strategic mastermind card.
They even put this on Twitter, just to make it real official-like, with fancy video clips and all. Says “Top 5 players to have a breakout playoffs! Presented by @NewAmsterdam.” Fancy, huh?
Reality check, though. Not all these guys are guaranteed a smooth ride to glory. Take Morant, limping around with an ankle injury… Are we gonna see a miracle recovery or what? Could totally be out of the picture before the playoffs even kick-off, depending on the stars.
As for Butler, he’s got high hopes pinned on him, especially after joining the Golden State Warriors and showing everyone he’s not messing around. But man, those Houston Rockets might just rain on his parade—it’s gonna be a nail-biter.
And Leonard and Harden, the hopeful juggernauts. Harden’s been cool as ice all season, and Leonard seems to have shed some of the injury blues, so fingers crossed there.
Then there’s Rivers, who’s like on the Bucks’ mission-impossible mission—or mission might-be-possible if Damian Lillard gets back into the game real soon. It’s a ‘wait-and-see’ thing.
Look, Beverley knows his basketball buddies. Dude’s got an eye for talent. But hey, just ’cause he thinks it, doesn’t mean it’s gonna roll out like that. Predicting this stuff can be a total wild goose chase sometimes, and you know how unpredictable those geese can be.
