Oh wow, so Josh Aisosa decided he’s hopping into the transfer portal. Something about this news feels like getting a mystery package with no return address. You just sit there wondering what’s inside, with a mix of dread and excitement. Imagine being an Oklahoma Sooners fan and seeing his tweet. Friday’s scroll through Twitter just got a lot more interesting. It’s like, you kind of saw it coming — or did you? I don’t know.
Let’s lay it out. Aisosa played for Oklahoma, but, well—he didn’t really “play.” I mean, no games in 2024? That dude was about as active on the field as my cat is when I’m trying to get her to chase a string — lots of promise, but mostly napping. He’s originally from Edmond Santa Fe High School. You’d figure the hometown hero story would play out differently, kinda like how you figure a movie’s plot should turn, but nah, life sometimes goes for plot twists that leave you saying “huh.”
Anyway, so he was a three-star prospect, but never got to shine as a Sooner. Backup center, all bench, no touchdowns. Bummer. The stats peeps over at 247Sports even had him pegged as the No. 15 player from Oklahoma — not too shabby! Makes you think: did he get tired of Norman? Or maybe just wanted a little more sunshine on his cleats somewhere else. Who knows, maybe he’s just not a fan of the local barbeque. I get it, I once ate ribs in Memphis that ruined BBQ for me anywhere else forever.
And here’s where it gets popcorn-worthy. He’s just one of six guys saying goodbye to Sooner Nation. Count that. Six. With the portal open until April 25th, it’s like a game show spinning a wheel of opportunity — ding ding, where will it land?! There’s tight end Davon Mitchell, Mykel Patterson-McDonald, Sam Franklin, Peter Schuh, Jocelyn Malaska — yeah, those folks grabbed the mic too. Busy times for future team rosters, I guess.
So what’s next for Aisosa? Dude’s got options lined up like a buffet: Iowa State, Tulsa, UNLV… and others. Remember those high school days when he had offers like this? The world in front of you, right? It’s kinda like déjà vu but with more turf burns and less acne (hopefully).
Meanwhile, Oklahoma’s filling up their ranks by grabbing Jake Maikkula from Stanford. Internally, I’m picturing Maikkula kiiiiind of like walking through the door like the new sheriff in town. He’s been getting those down-and-dirty snaps at center and guard for two college years, so yeah — they’re patching up that hole quickly.
Anyway, for more Sooner gossip and whatnot, it seems like @SoonersWire is the place to be. Aaron’s got the Twitter handle heating up @Aaron_Gelvin. Maybe they know why someone might just up and throw around their old jersey like a towel after a gym session. Weird.
