So, here’s the thing about the Jets. No one seems to yammer on about their need for a safety. Everyone’s fixated on positions like right tackle or wide receiver, but safety? Crickets. Which is kinda…weird? Because they only have Andre Cisco, Tony Adams, and Isaiah Oliver as their go-to guys. Three names, that’s it.
And it’s not like everyone was clamoring in the streets about this before. It’s just interesting how certain needs fly under the radar while the others get a neon spotlight. Like, is this some psychological blind spot? Or maybe, just maybe, we’re all just distracted by the flashy things – tight ends, defensive tackles – you name it.
There’s this image that’s stuck in my mind and I don’t even know why? It’s of Malaki Starks catching a pass at the NFL combine. The focus was sharp; you’d swear you could feel the turf through the screen. Where was I going with this? Oh right — the draft. I guess the whole point is they need reinforcements for safety on Day 2 or 3 at the draft.
Otherwise, they’re sailing a yacht with a few missing planks, if you get what I mean. Not super urgent or sexy, apparently, but necessary. I think that’s it. Right?
