So there’s this thing going on with Maria Sakkari—do you know her? A pretty big tennis star. Anyway, she’s decided to team up again with her old coach, Tom Hill. If you’re like me, you might be thinking, “Wasn’t that partnership over ages ago?” Well, they’d ended it in February last year after six years. And that was a pretty solid run, you know, like when you’re listening to a band that you actually like and not just pretending because everyone else does.
A Greek journalist, Vicky Georgatou, shared this news, quoting stuff from somewhere called SDNA. So, apparently, after parting ways with Hill, Sakkari tried working with a bunch of other coaches—David Witt, Sergi Bruguera, and Raemon Sluiter. Phew, that’s a lot of new names to get used to. Meanwhile, Tom Hill went off and coached Peyton Stearns. Was that exciting? I have no clue, but coaching is like dating for some, I guess.
But here they are, back at it – Hill and Sakkari. Ready to make some noise at the Madrid Open. By the way, Sakkari’s 29 now. Time flies, doesn’t it? She’s had a tough year or so, standing 7-12 in matches this season, which doesn’t sound great if you ask me. Not like I play tennis, but numbers don’t lie, right? Or maybe they do.
Anyway, here’s hoping this reunion does the trick for her. I’ve got my fingers crossed for some good tennis and, perhaps, a few surprises along the way. Who knows? Maybe they’ll even make it to a final or something. But yeah, back to waiting for the next plot twist in this never-boring tennis saga.
