Funny thing happened the other day. So, there I was, supposed to be writing about stocks or something—I forget—and I stumbled upon this tidbit about Jrue Holiday. You know, from the Celtics. Anyway, the dude’s just snagged the 2025 Red Auerbach Award. If you’re scratching your head wondering who Red is—take a rain check for a bit of basketball history.
So, picture this: there’s Jrue, probably juggling a basketball or two, standing smack at midcourt. And then you’ve got Celtics’ top brass, Wyc Grousbeck (I always wonder how you pronounce that… is it ‘Wy-k’ or ‘Wick’?) and Bob Epstein, giving him the shiny thing. The award is all about being a Celtics model citizen, showing off mad skills both on and off the shiny hardwood. Something tells me Jrue pulled a move or two to get that accolade. I mean, you gotta be a little ninja-like to get noticed in Boston.
Grousbeck—or Wyc, whatever—is all praises for Jrue. It’s like a love letter, really. The guy goes on and on about Jrue’s excellence—a bit of a buzzword if you ask me—and how he’s the team’s rock. I kind of zoned out for a sec there.
Oh, and if you’re wondering who Inside Hoops is, they’ve been chit-chatting about the NBA for over 20 years. Sometimes I feel like I’ve been glued to their updates since I was, like, a kid. A quick ‘Google break’ makes me think Celtics fans were probably raising a toast or two—or spilling a drink—in Jrue’s honor.
Funny, right? If Jrue’s not careful, they’ll put his name on every wall in the TD Garden. Or maybe… nah, that’s just too much. Unless you’re from Boston.
