UFC 315 promises to be a thrilling night with two championship battles taking center stage. Announced by UFC CEO Dana White on Wednesday, the event, slated for May 10 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, will feature a welterweight showdown between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena as its main event. Adding to the excitement, the co-main event sees Valentina Shevchenko defending her flyweight title against Manon Fiorot.
Originally, Shavkat Rakhmonov was in line for the welterweight title shot, but an unfortunate injury sidelined him. This twist led to Della Maddalena stepping away from his scheduled match against Leon Edwards at the UFC London event on March 22, opening the path for this anticipated clash with Muhammad.
Belal Muhammad returns to the Octagon for the first time since claiming the welterweight title last July at UFC 304, where he dethroned Edwards after a five-round battle. Muhammad, who has been unbeatable in his last 11 bouts since April 2019, will be eager to extend this remarkable streak.
Jack Della Maddalena is no stranger to winning streaks either, having racked up 17 consecutive victories in his professional career, including seven within the UFC. In his only fight of 2024 so far, the 28-year-old Australian delivered a stunning third-round knockout against former title contender Gilbert Burns at UFC 299.
On the women’s side, Valentina Shevchenko stands tall as one of the premier pound-for-pound fighters globally. After reclaiming the flyweight title with a decisive win over Grasso in their trilogy at UFC 306, Shevchenko aims to continue her reign. She had previously defended the belt seven times before Grasso’s shocking victory at UFC 285.
Challenging her will be Manon Fiorot, who hasn’t tasted defeat since her professional debut. The French fighter boasts an impressive 12-fight winning streak and remains undefeated in her seven UFC appearances. Fiorot’s record includes victories over top-notch opponents like Erin Blanchfield, Rose Namajunas, Katlyn Cerminara, and Jennifer Maia, making her a formidable contender in this high-stakes bout.
