Here’s today’s quick dive into some news nuggets about the Pittsburgh Steelers that might not fill an entire article but are definitely worth sharing with you all.

### PATTERSON NOT SOLD ON NEW KICKOFF RULE
Last season, the NFL shook things up by tweaking the kickoff rules to boost the excitement of the play. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out well for the Steelers, who found kick returns to be a bit of a headache. Now, the NFL competition committee is thinking about making this change a fixture, and Steelers standout Cordarrelle Patterson isn’t exactly jumping for joy at that prospect.
In a clear display of his feelings, Patterson shared a GIF on Twitter that pretty much shouted his disapproval of the rule potentially becoming a permanent fixture. Despite his reputation as one of the finest returners in NFL history, last year’s adjustment wasn’t exactly a highlight reel for him. Maybe a return to the old ways could help him bounce back.
### FAULKNER’S SON STEPS INTO THE SPOTLIGHT AT PITT
This past Wednesday, the University of Pittsburgh held its Pro Day, and several Steelers personnel were on hand to check out the emerging talent. It’s a golden opportunity for potential NFL recruits to catch some attention, and among them was a familiar name tied to the Steelers’ coaching staff.
Brian Batko from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette made an interesting note on Twitter about Eddie Faulkner IV, the son of the Steelers’ running backs coach, Eddie Faulkner. Although he doesn’t attend Pitt, young Faulkner got a shot at showing his skills during the event. He suits up as a cornerback for Slippery Rock University, located just north of Pittsburgh, and Pitt’s warm welcome was surely appreciated by the Faulkner family, giving Eddie IV a platform to shine.
### A NEW BEGINNING FOR GAINWELL
With Najee Harris departing, the Steelers found themselves facing a hole in the starting running back slot. While a direct replacement hasn’t been locked in just yet, the team has signed Kenneth Gainwell, who’s been contributing to the Philadelphia Eagles since 2021. Though not often a headliner, Gainwell has built a reputation as a reliable role player, but he is also celebrating some personal news this offseason.
The Steelers proudly shared on their Twitter about Gainwell’s recent wedding. It marks a joyful turn in his personal life even as he transitions to a new football home. Fresh off a Super Bowl victory this year, 2025 is clearly shaping up to be a milestone year for Gainwell. Here’s hoping his good fortune spills over into his upcoming season with the Steelers.
