In an exciting unveiling at the F1-75 Live event, Ferrari has finally pulled back the curtain on their latest creation for the 2025 Formula 1 season. The SF-25, set to first hit the track at Fiorano before making its way to Bahrain, promises a fresh chapter in Ferrari’s storied racing legacy.
The SF-25, keeping with the naming trend of recent years, represents Ferrari’s continued adaptation to stable regulations. This model marks the 71st Formula 1 car built by the legendary team and the fourth in the new era of ground effect designs established in 2022.
This latest Ferrari is not merely a tweak but a complete overhaul, employing brand-new technical solutions. Most notably, the Loic Serra-led design squad has introduced a significant shift in the front suspension system, opting for a pull rod configuration instead of the previous pushrod setup.
The change aims to streamline the car’s airflow, according to Ferrari, while opening new avenues for aerodynamic development that were previously reaching their limits.
Building on last year’s already robust platform, the SF-25 is all about evolution. While the architecture regulations have remained unchanged since 2022, the power unit itself doesn’t boast any groundbreaking changes. However, Ferrari has shifted their focus to optimizing how the power unit is used, tailoring its strategy to maximize performance across different race conditions.
In terms of aesthetics, Ferrari’s 2025 livery is a bold statement. It blends the traditional with the contemporary, featuring a matte finish Racing Red that harks back to the team’s early days, accented by a striking white band that symbolizes the team’s dynamic vision and forward-thinking approach.
The SF-25 will have its first shakedown this Wednesday at Fiorano, covering up to 200 kilometers before the anticipated pre-season tests in Bahrain from February 26 to 28.
Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, can’t hide his excitement: “The unveiling of this car is a proud moment for us. It reflects the tremendous effort from everyone in Maranello, and we’re eager to see it on track. Last year, we came so close to clinching the Constructors’ title, and this season, with our new driver line-up featuring Lewis alongside Charles, we’re striving for both championship titles. The challenges are formidable, but with the unwavering support of our fans, we’re ready to prove ourselves.”
Technical director Loic Serra noted, “The SF-25 capitalizes on the strong foundation of the SF-24 but is largely reengineered to enhance performance. The introduction of the pull rod suspension is just one of many changes. In a sport where milliseconds matter, we’re committed to extracting every bit of performance.”
Power Unit expert Enrico Gualtieri added, “Though regulations have been static since 2022, we’ve rigorously honed every aspect of the power unit’s operation. We’ve prioritized reliability and meticulous preparation to meet the unique challenges this season brings. With the SF-25, we’re poised to achieve our objectives.”
As Ferrari gears up for another thrilling season, the team is resolute in their quest for victory on the world stage, fueled by innovation and a passion for racing.
