Aaron Rodgers has been pretty tight-lipped about his plans for the future, at least that’s the vibe coming from Pat McAfee.
In the latest episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” McAfee dove into the buzz surrounding the Vikings dropping out of the race to grab the legendary 41-year-old quarterback. Surprisingly, Rodgers, known for popping up as a guest on the show and spilling the beans, has left even his closest buddies like former teammate AJ Hawk in the dark.
“Aaron hasn’t said a word,” McAfee remarked, underscoring the mystery that has surrounded Rodgers for years. “There are very few who truly know what’s going on with Aaron. Even AJ is probably in the dark. It’s all very intriguing when it comes to Aaron—it always has been.”
McAfee figured Rodgers would have made up his mind about playing in 2025 by now.
“He’s over 40, spent his life dedicated to football… That’s a huge decision looming over him, especially if he’s picking his last team,” McAfee continued.
Rodgers has had a tumultuous ride after being cut loose by the Jets following two less-than-stellar seasons, one of which was derailed by an Achilles injury just minutes into the game.
The NFL Network reported that the Vikings have decided not to pursue Rodgers, a four-time MVP, choosing instead to stick with J.J. McCarthy, last year’s 10th overall pick. Despite McCarthy sitting out his entire rookie season to recover from a knee injury that required two surgeries, the Vikings have placed their bets on him, even turning down several trade offers for the 22-year-old. They’re on the lookout for a seasoned backup, but Rodgers is apparently not on their radar.
Meanwhile, the Giants and Steelers are still eyeing Rodgers. ESPN noted that Rodgers isn’t rushing to settle his 2025 plans.
Last week, Rodgers was spotted taking it easy, walking solo by the beach in Malibu, towel in tow.
During his time with the Jets last season, Rodgers managed to land 28 touchdowns with 11 interceptions over 17 games.
