Travis Pointe Country Club, nestled just outside of Ann Arbor, is about to embark on a massive transformation, channeling over six million dollars into both its clubhouse and pristine golf course. Having had the pleasure of playing at Travis Pointe some years back during the LPGA Volvik Championship, I can vouch for its allure and charm, which is well-documented in my Michigan Golf Course reviews.
The man behind Travis Pointe’s original design is Bill Newcomb, a name synonymous with excellence in many of Michigan’s golf courses, including favorites like Calderone and The Medalist. For this significant makeover, Chris Wilczynski from C.W. Golf Architecture, and also a club member, will steer the planned renovations.
The clubhouse renovations are slated to kick off this fall, with the golf course upgrades following in 2026. I’m eagerly looking forward to experiencing the course again once these enhancements are complete.
Here’s a snippet from the official announcement:
Travis Pointe Country Club is thrilled to proclaim a sweeping six million dollar renovation focused on revamping its clubhouse and enhancing the golfing experience. This investment mirrors the club’s dedication to delivering top-notch facilities and fostering a lively community culture.
Noteworthy for hosting the distinguished LPGA Volvik Championship, Travis Pointe is ahead of the curve with its cultural and lifestyle innovations, boasting advanced amenities like golf simulators, outstanding racquet and swimming facilities, and refined dining experiences led by Chef Jason Berthold.
These renovations aim to set the stage for the future, broadening appeal and ensuring members experience unmatched luxury. Approaching its 50th anniversary in 2027, Travis Pointe will blend old-world charm with modern amenities.
Kori Isaac, the club’s General Manager, shared excitement about this new chapter, emphasizing that the renovations prioritize what today’s members value most.
The clubhouse’s new look seeks to enhance its open layout and architectural features, turning dining and bar areas into lively social hotspots. These spaces are designed to encourage vibrant interaction, ideal for everything from casual catch-ups to celebratory gatherings. The planned architectural changes include a stunning entrance makeover and enhanced outdoor dining areas for alfresco dining options.
A pivotal element of these renovations is a new outdoor tennis court to meet growing demand, enriching the club’s offerings for official USTA events.
Joe Golden, President of the Board of Directors, noted that these efforts are a testament to member commitment and a vision to leave a legacy for future generations.
From 2025’s clubhouse revamp to 2026’s golf course reconstruction, Travis Pointe is set to redefine what it means to be a premier private club.
Plans for the golf course involve upgrading bunkers for improved shot dynamics, expanding greens, and realigning fairways to boost playability and aesthetic allure. Equipped with advanced drainage systems and improved tree management, the renovations will ensure year-round top condition.
Come 2027, when these upgrades culminate, Travis Pointe will offer an enticing blend of traditional charm and modern style, appealing to a new generation of members.
