You’re not seeing double—those new Vessel Carbon Collection bags really do come with a price tag of $1,999.99 each.
I get it, you’re probably shaking your head, filled with disbelief. But before jumping to conclusions, let me break down why these bags are drawing attention.
Let’s tackle the biggest question: Who in their right mind is splurging two grand on a golf bag?
More people than you might expect.
Next up, the inevitable follow-up: What would prompt someone to shell out $2,000 for a golf bag?
Well, simply put—it comes down to personal choice.
Now for the intriguing inquiry: What exactly makes a golf bag worth such a hefty price?
To answer that, we need to delve into the founding philosophy of Vessel.
Founded 13 years ago by Ronnie Shaw, an electrical engineer and lifelong golf bag enthusiast, Vessel has an authentic origin story. Shaw honed his bag-making skills helping in his father’s company, Zonson, over in Taiwan.
Based in Carlsbad, California, Shaw initially produced high-quality bags for major brands like NIKE. But when NIKE pulled out of the golf industry in 2016, Shaw pivoted his strategy. He began creating custom bags for PGA and LPGA pros by attending tournaments and offering his craftsmanship. This led to the iconic Vessel Player bag, and the rest is history.
Flash forward to 2023, and Vessel launched its first Carbon Collection to mark its 10th anniversary. These bags were crafted from a proprietary carbon-fiber fabric called Omniflex, developed by Carbitex in Washington state. Known for its strength and lightness, Omniflex is already popular in athletic footwear.
The original Carbon Collection bags used 25% Omniflex in high-stress areas like the spine, handle, and strap connections. Celebrating its 13th anniversary, Vessel’s new collection ups this to a whopping 75%.
“With so much carbon-fiber, this bag is just awesome,” Shaw shares with MyGolfSpy. “It’s weather-resistant, lighter, and built for the long haul, coming with a lifetime warranty. Breakages? We’ve got you covered. The aim is a bag that endures.”
The 2025 lineup features two new bags: a 75% Omniflex version of the Player V Pro stand bag and an equivalent carbon version of the Lux Pro cart bag. The Player V Pro includes a 14-way top, while the Lux Pro boasts a 15-way top. Both bags feature sleek magnetic pocket closures and a chrome badge celebrating Vessel’s milestone anniversary.
“We couldn’t launch this product when we started,” Shaw admits. “It would have been dismissed as madness. People still think we’re a bit out there, but after all this time, we’ve earned their trust. They know that when Vessel releases something new, it’s a result of passion and dedication. And for that, I’m incredibly thankful.”
Still think no one’s buying these high-end bags?
Think again.
We naturally gag at exorbitant prices. But if a $4,300 Montblanc Jimi Hendrix Limited Edition pen exists, a $2,000 golf bag doesn’t seem so outrageous.
“The first time, we thought it was just a fun experiment,” Shaw recalls. “Who’d pay $1,600 for a golf bag? Yet, in just a month, it was our best-seller. There are folks out there who crave exclusivity.”
The Vessel Carbon Collection is set to be a permanent, limited-quantity feature in their lineup. Consider it their concept car: showcasing cutting-edge innovation. Following the 10th-anniversary designs, carbon-fiber strips became a staple in their standard bags for enhanced durability.
“The golf bag sector lacks innovation,” Shaw observes. “Copycats are prevalent. But it’s easier to mimic than lead. Our goal is to remain trendsetters.”
Synthetic leather alternatives have surged, offering similar visual appeal at lower prices. Despite this, innovators continually push boundaries.
“I’m always looking ahead,” Shaw says. “When the Player V dropped, I was already brainstorming the next iteration, the Player VI, continually pushing our limits.”
Ultimately, the Vessel Carbon Collection is about trust as much as luxury.
Vessel has spent over a decade fostering brand loyalty. For some, paying a premium seems excessive when cheaper alternatives exist. For others, it’s an investment in a lasting, quality product.
“To some, our bags seemed impractically priced when compared to others at launch,” Shaw recounts. “Now, with 13 years under our belt, we’ve cultivated that essential trust.”
Entrepreneurship 101 teaches that you can’t debut a $2,000 product expecting instant success. Consumers need assurance—trust established through years of consistent delivery.
And, judging by Vessel’s journey, that takes about a decade or more.
Starting today, the 2025 Vessel Carbon Collection is available. Each bag is paired with a limited-edition 20-inch anniversary magnetic golf towel and a Lux Carbon Embosse headcover. The headcover is also sold separately for $245.
