Following the intense ONE Friday Fights 95 event in January, ONE Championship has issued suspensions to two fighters who faced off that night. Kiamran Nabati managed to claim victory over Ferrari Fairtex with a swift first-round knockout. However, both fighters now face a mandatory break from competition.
### Kiamran Nabati Faces a One-Year Suspension for Doping Violations
In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations, which inform ONE’s anti-doping practices, Kiamran Nabati has received a one-year ban. His samples were tested by the International Doping Tests & Management (IDTM) in Sweden, an organization that collaborates with major sports entities like MLB, NBA, NCAA, NFL, and the PGA Tour.
Kiamran Nabati tested positive for drostanolone, an anabolic steroid, as well as modafinil, which enhances reaction time, and meldonium, known for boosting cardio and recovery (as reported by Bangkok Post). This isn’t Nabati’s first run-in with doping issues.
### Kiamran Nabati’s History of Suspensions
Back in 2017, the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), the amateur body, handed Nabati a six-year suspension for testing positive for clenbuterol and tampering. Fast forward to 2024, and he faced suspension again for the same substance alongside drostanolone, meldonium, and further allegations of tampering.
### A Shorter Ban for Kiamran Nabati’s Opponent
Ferrari Fairtex, Nabati’s opponent, received a much lighter penalty, being sidelined for just three months after testing positive for heptaminol and octodrine. These substances are known for increasing blood flow and acting as a stimulant, respectively. The 27-year-old Thai fighter will be eligible to return to the ring by summer.
The spectacular finish of their bout has now been nullified, with the match being officially recorded as a no-contest. These incidents underscore ONE’s commitment to rigorous independent testing through IDTM and adherence to WADA’s strict guidelines.
