Dash Daniels, the younger sibling of the Atlanta Hawks’ guard Dyson Daniels, really turned heads at Basketball Without Borders. Standing out with his impressive size for his position and showcasing skills on both ends of the floor, Dash earned the Defensive MVP award for the camp.
NBADraft.Net sat down with Dash:
NBADraft.Net: How did you find the experience at the camp?
Dash Daniels: Honestly, it was a blast. Being able to compete with such talented players was incredible. I truly appreciated the chance to participate.
NBADraft.Net: Among the participants, who caught your attention?
Dash Daniels: There were quite a few standout players, but Ikenna Alozie, who wore number 21 and snagged the MVP title, was something else. His speed and quickness make him a challenge to defend.
NBADraft.Net: What position do you see yourself mastering in the future?
Dash Daniels: I’m quite adaptable. While I primarily play point guard, I also really enjoy being a shooting guard. I like having the ball to orchestrate plays and get my teammates involved, so I’d say I’m mainly a one or two.
NBADraft.Net: How has your brother influenced your basketball journey?
Dash Daniels: Dyson has been a massive influence. Watching him enter the NBA made me realize the possibility for myself, which has been hugely inspiring. Now, I’m driven to make it to the league too.
NBADraft.Net: Are there any NBA players you particularly admire?
Dash Daniels: I look up to players like De’Aaron Fox and Jrue Holiday. They’re remarkable two-way guards, who excel in defense and make significant offensive contributions. Fox’s speed and ability to drive to the hoop and hit shots is impressive.
NBADraft.Net: Do you follow college basketball at all?
Dash Daniels: I catch some games but don’t really have a specific team I root for. However, I enjoy watching Houston because of their strong defensive mindset, which aligns with how I like to play.
NBADraft.Net: You seem to take great pride in your defensive abilities.
Dash Daniels: Absolutely!
NBADraft.Net: When did you first dunk a basketball?
Dash Daniels: I threw down my first dunk at around 13 years old.
NBADraft.Net: How tall were you at the time?
Dash Daniels: I was probably nearing six feet, maybe closer to 5’11".
NBADraft.Net: Where do you envision yourself five years down the road?
Dash Daniels: Ideally, I see myself solidly in the NBA, contributing as a reliable role player and maybe even chasing a championship.
Dash’s passion and drive are evident as he continues to carve his own path, inspired by his brother’s success and fueled by his aspirations of joining the league.
