In Montreal, Jasmine Jasudavicius has been craving a genuine vacation for a while now, yet she fully understands the significance of staying in top shape between her fight camps.
Jasmin is gearing up for a major clash at UFC 315, where she’s set to face former champion Jessica Andrade in an important bout for the women’s flyweight division. This much-anticipated event will take place at Bell Centre on May 10th.
As fight camp intensifies for Jasudavicius, she’s experiencing a mix of emotions. A victory over Andrade, who boasts a record of 26-13 in MMA and 11-7 in the UFC, is crucial for Jasmine’s aspirations of becoming a champion. However, it means her dream vacation will have to be postponed yet again.
Back in February, her preparation for her fight against Mayra Bueno Silva saw her missing out on Christmas and New Year celebrations with her family. Despite securing a unanimous decision win, plans for a break were soon canceled when the UFC presented the chance to combat a former champion. It seems rest will have to wait as she throws herself back into training, determined to thrive on both good and challenging days.
“Every single fight camp has its exhausting moments,” Jasudavicius shared with MMA Junkie. “I anticipate those days, but I’ve learned the importance of rest. After my last fight, I made it a point to truly relax.”
“I’m back in the gym now and, surprisingly, I’m enjoying myself. It’s refreshing to approach martial arts with a playful mindset, allowing some mental rest even as I develop my skills. But after this fight, I’m definitely planning on enjoying a real vacation.”
With a streak of four consecutive wins, Jasudavicius has set her sights on Valentina Shevchenko’s title. Currently holding the No. 9 spot in the rankings, Jasudavicius recognizes that defeating No. 7 ranked Andrade would significantly bolster her position as a title contender.
During the UFC 315 on-sale press conference, Jasudavicius found herself seated next to Shevchenko. She couldn’t help but admire the championship belt just within arm’s reach.
“Being here feels like a sneak peek of the moment when I’ll be doing this with the belt right in front of me,” Jasudavicius enthused. “Valentina has demonstrated so much in the sport, and sitting up there next to her, I can’t wait for my chance to be in her shoes and wear that belt.”
