Alpine kicked off their pre-season testing at Sakhir with a promising start as Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan racked up a total of 140 laps on the first day, covering an impressive 758 kilometers in their newly designed A525.
In the morning session, Doohan was behind the wheel, completing 68 laps and clocking a best time of 1:31.841, placing him 14th on the leaderboard.
The afternoon saw Gasly take over, completing 72 laps with his personal best time at 1:31.353, earning him a commendable sixth place overall.
Even a power outage didn’t dampen spirits. Reflecting on the day, Gasly remained upbeat despite a red flag halting progress.
“It was a solid day of work, though the red flag did interrupt us a bit,” noted the French driver with optimism. “It was fortunate the session was extended, allowing us to complete our program and make the most out of the track time. The car felt great from the start, and I’m really happy with my first impressions.”
Everything seemed on point as they explored different setups, setting a promising tone for the week ahead. “I can’t wait to continue with Jack in the morning, hoping for another productive day,” Gasly added.
In the morning session, Doohan relished his time in the car and expressed satisfaction with the handling across various setups.
“I loved being in the car and experiencing everything under different conditions,” shared the enthusiastic Aussie. He also extended a big thanks to the Enstone and Viry teams for their hard work over the winter to get the car ready for testing.
As testing rolls into day two, Gasly will return in the morning before handing the reins back to Doohan in the afternoon. The team is laser-focused on fine-tuning the A525’s performance in preparation for the upcoming season. Stay with us for more updates as Alpine charges through pre-season testing.
